NZ Commercial Distributors (NZCD) is looking for an experienced Network Development Manager to take ownership of the standards, performance and development of our FUSO and Mercedes-Benz Vans dealer networks.
This is a nationwide role with a full view of each dealership, across Sales, Parts and Service. You will be the main point of contact between NZCD and our dealer leadership teams, working across 44 dealer sites the length of the country.
Your focus is performance. You will monitor how each dealer is tracking, find the opportunities, work alongside them to fix what is not working, and make sure every site delivers the standards, and the customer experience our brands are known for.
About the Role
Working across both networks, you will oversee both 2S and 3S dealer formats, ensuring each dealership meets its obligations and has the capability, resources and infrastructure required to support customers.
You will track how the network performs, work closely with our dealers, audit them against our standards, improve the customer experience and set the direction the network takes next. Together that shapes the future of our nationwide dealer network.
Key Responsibilities
Network Performance & KPI Management
Monitor dealer performance across Sales, Parts and Service.
Audit performance against NZCD KPIs and maintain accurate network scorecards.
Prepare monthly network performance reporting, identifying trends, risks and recommended actions.
Lead quarterly business reviews with Dealer Principals.
Identify underperformance early, agree corrective action plans and monitor progress through to completion.
Dealer & Network Standards
Oversee FUSO and Mercedes-Benz Vans 2S and 3S network requirements.
Conduct dealer, Corporate Identity (CI) and brand standard audits.
Manage audit schedules, findings and rectification through to sign-off.
Ensure dealerships have the required service capability, tooling, training and parts availability.
Identify opportunities to transition sites between 2S and 3S formats where market demand supports it.
Customer Experience
Monitor customer experience performance across Sales, Parts and Service.
Review customer handling, response times, follow-up and complaint resolution.
Work with dealers to implement improvements and share best-practice initiatives across the network.
Network Strategy & Development
Develop and execute network strategy aligned with NZCD objectives.
Conduct market coverage and potential analysis to identify gaps and opportunities.
Assess opportunities for relocation, expansion, consolidation, format changes or new dealer appointments.
Prepare business cases and recommendations for network investment and development.
Dealer Appointments & Agreements
Manage dealer appointment, onboarding, renewal and offboarding processes.
Ensure dealer agreements, obligations and format commitments are documented and current.
Build strong, trusted relationships with Dealer Principals and key stakeholders across the network.
About You
We are looking for a commercially focused and highly capable relationship manager who can confidently operate at both a strategic and operational level.
You will ideally bring:
Experience in automotive, commercial vehicles, dealer networks, franchising or a similar network-based environment.
Strong commercial and business acumen, with the ability to analyse performance and identify opportunities.
Proven experience working with KPIs, reporting, audits and performance improvement.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
The confidence to challenge performance and escalate issues when required.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
A customer-focused mindset and commitment to maintaining high brand standards.
The ability to travel extensively throughout New Zealand.
